RIBGH is pleased to offer members a unique opportunity to help shape a nationally recognized survey that captures employer perspectives on healthcare priorities—while also elevating the voice of Rhode Island businesses on issues closer to home.
The Pulse of the Purchaser is an annual national survey by the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions (read more about 2025 results here) that highlights how employers are managing healthcare costs, mental health, and pharmacy benefits. Key findings show employers are struggling with rising costs, shifting toward transparent pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), and actively managing high-cost claims.
Each participating coalition may submit up to two questions for inclusion in the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions (NAHPC) Pulse of the Purchaser 2026 Survey. These questions provide a meaningful opportunity for Rhode Island employers to anonymously share their perspectives on recent increases in healthcare costs in the state, helping to better communicate what local businesses are experiencing and thinking.
Submitting questions for consideration offers several important benefits:
- Elevate local employer perspectives: Provide Rhode Island businesses with a platform to anonymously voice concerns and insights on rising healthcare costs
- Influence national dialogue: Help shape insights that inform policymakers, industry leaders, and healthcare stakeholders
- Support local and national impact: Ensure that both Rhode Island-specific and national priorities are reflected in the survey
- Contribute to actionable data: Help generate findings that inform employer strategies and healthcare market improvements
In addition, states that meet the survey completion threshold will receive a state-specific report, offering valuable insights into how Rhode Island compares and where opportunities for improvement may exist.
To better understand the types of questions included, members are encouraged to review details on the 2025 Pulse of the Purchaser survey, available here, on the RIBGH website.
